Formally his first name is Hisakazu, which can be pronunced "ikkyu" when read backasswards. That way of nicknaming sometimes happens in Japan.

I don't think you'll have any problem translating いっきゅうが斬る which means,
I dare to put it, "Ikkyuu analyzes sharply (or has a sharp tongue on ・・・)."
