Japanese to English translations [Non-PRO]
Japanese term or phrase: 走り始めてしばらく
Can anyone explain the following
走り始めてしばらくしてからハタと気が付いた。燃料計の針が下の方に振り切れてしまっている。あわててキョロキョロ見回しても、ガソリンスタンドが見当たらない。ハテ、困った。ガス欠だ。

この文章が某社のトライアルであることはかなりの人が知っているはずです。『翻訳・通訳ジャーナル』という雑誌にも紹介されたことがあります。
何年も同じ文章をトライアルで使っているこの会社の姿勢にも疑問を感じますが、この程度のトライアルは自分の力で挑戦して欲しいと思います。

If you are looking for a good dictionary of Japanese onomatopoetic word, I suggest you to get Eijiro CD-ROM version.
A dictionary named 音辞郎 is included in it, this is useful to find the tip of translation for onomatopoetic words.
