I only add this suggestion -- without any evidence to support it -- as someone else has already provided "copper-based catalysts" and "cuprous" means "of or relating to copper".

disagree  Philip Ronan: "Cuprous" refers specifically to monovalent copper (as opposed to cupric = divalent copper). "Copper-based" works best.

I always feel difficulty in translating 系(kei)" into English. Native speakers of Japanese tend to overuse this term, but is omittable most of the times in my opinion.
