Direct Inward Dialing
DID (sometimes called DDI) stands for Direct Inward Dialing. It is a feature used by PBX systems whereby a number range is allocated to the customer and inbound calls are presented so the PBX can recognise the number and route to the appropriate person or department within the business.

Direct Inward Dialing - Also called Direct Dial-In (DDI) in Europe, this is a feature offered by telephone companies for use with their customers' PBX systems, whereby the telephone company (telco) allocates a range of numbers all connected to their customer's PBX. As calls are presented to the PBX, the number that the caller dialed is also given, so the PBX can route the call to the desired person or bureau within the organization. (See Wikipedia, Direct inward dialing)

Direct Dialing In (DDI), also known as Direct Inward Dialing (DID), is the ability or service feature for a caller outside a company to call an internal extension without having to pass through an operator or attendant. In large PBX systems, the dialed digits are passed down the line from the CO (central office). The PBX then completes the call. Direct Inward Dialing is often proposed as Centrex's major feature. But automated attendants (a specialized form of interactive voice response systems) also provide a similar service.

MSN (Multiple Subscriber Number) or DID (Direct In Dial)- allowing incoming callers direct access to extensions, without going through the switchboard.
