Latin to English translations [Non-PRO]
Latin term or phrase:Amici quidam ab gaio cornelio ad cenam invitabantur
Amici quidam ab gaio cornelio ad cenam invitabantur. Qua de causa Aurelia in Foro glires emerat. Porcus quoque a servis emebatur.
Certain friends used to be invited for lunch by Caius Cornelius.
Explanation: "...Because of this Aurelia was buying dormice from the Forum. Also a pig was being bought by the slaves..."
The English language sometimes does not succeed to show the "nuances" meant by the use of "Imperfectum" and "Plusquamperfectum" tenses in Latin. That is why the translator must decide with the context which past English tense to use.
