What is the difference between "amma" (mother) and ammachi? Is "ammachi" only used as a respectful address form for spiritual persons? Is the -chi suffix an equivalent of the -ji suffix in hindi? Is the "i" in Ammachi long or short. I would very much appreciate any help

Mother/Old Women
This term is used, mainly by Christians, to mean mother. However, it can also be a derogatory term for an old woman. 'chi' is not equivalent to 'ji' in hindi. 'i' in ammachi is short.
