wrench extension
Explanation:
Certainly nothing to do with keys - the Norwegian fastnøkkel, skiftenøkkel, sekskantnøkkel are wrenches.

The wrench extension bar has the effect of magnifying the torque applied on what is being twisted. When a gas cylinder cannot be opened by normal force, there is usually a darn good reason. Quadrupling that force may twist the valve right off rather than just open. Trust me - you don't want to be there when it happens. If it's just air, you might escape with a bad scare. If it's flammable gas, you're toast.

Notes to answerer
Asker: It's obviously an atypical term. You can see that from the hits it gives. If I could just find the conventional term, that would be a help. And I think you may be on the right track, Per. Thanks so far.

Cheater bar

Explanation:
In the US, an extension of this type is called a cheater bar. It adds length to the wrench (thereby torque) which as Per writes can be very dangerous when applied to gas cylinders.
