Norwegian to English translations [PRO] Bus/Financial - Finance (general)
Norwegian term or phrase:innesalg
"presalgs- og innesalgsfunksjoner" What is meant by "innesalg"?
No need to remove answers, as a disputed one can be just as informative as an acclaimed one. A one-time colleague of mine used to sell Xxxxxx computers to Xxxxxx, that is other departments in his own company. He did this so successfully they sent him on incentive cruises three years in a row. There are certainly careers to be made in internal sales, if the organisation is sufficiently stupid.
This seems to tally with other examples I've found, though my text is a ppt presentation with bullets, which doesn't give much away. And "inside sales" seems to be the answer.
"In the United States, the Fair Labor Standards Act defines outside sales representatives as "employees [who] sell their employer's products, services, or facilities to customers away from their employer's place(s) of business, in general, either at the customer's place of business or by selling door-to-door at the customer's home" while defining those who work "from the employer's location" as inside sales" (ref: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sales )
Utesalg: Salget skjer ute hos kunden.

sales from seller's premises
Explanation: I can't seem to think up a sales term that avoids the overtones of selling inside one's one company, be it inside sales or internal sales. The kind of selling that involves presales is usually B2B, in which case the sales person stays at the own office site and sells by phone, fax, email etc.
