Norwegian to English translations [PRO] Government / Politics
Norwegian term or phrase:forvaltningsprosjekt
In the text in question, this term is used to refer to archaeological excavations in connection with new road-building projects.
"forvaltningsinitiert forvaltningsprosjekt", og how one could convert a "forvaltningsprosject" into a "forskningsprosjekt " in order to utilise the results as best as possble.
I would like to use "public administration project" but cannot find enough support for this from searches I've done using this term together with the Norwegian one. Has anyone come across this term in the past?
I ended up with "cultuaral heritage management project".

For future reference. The term "forvaltningsprosjekt" covers all kinds of areas, but in my context it has to do with excavation projects in connection with planned development projects for new motorways etc., to ensure that cultural monuments/artefacts are retrieved before the development work goes ahead. From what I understand, these are not necessarily funded exclusively by the state or local authorities, so I wanted to avoid implying this in my solution. Thanks for all input. Will now close the question.
""De fleste arkeologiske prosjekt i Norge er forvaltningsprosjekt som gjennomføres som et resultat av utbygging. Dette er prosjekter hvor tiltakshaver eller i enkelte tilfeller staten står for finansieringen av prosjektet. Det finnes imidlertid også enkelte forskningsprosjekter som finansieres av museumsmyndighetene.". So it doesn't necessarily have to be government-sponsored. I'm considering "stewardship project" but this term doesn't appear to be used much in Norwegian translations.
