Greetings,
What does تهمایه mean, please? Does it also have a literal use?
Context:
سرانجام با تهمایهای از آن خشم قدیمی در صدایم گفتم: «خب، فکر میکنم چیزی شده. به من هم بگویید.»
Re خشم قدیمی, I think Bilquis is referring to the way she used to be before becoming a Christian i.e. very bad-tempered.
Best wishes, and many thanks,
Simon

tinge
Here ته مایه refers to the small amount of her anger, which has been remained till the moment and affects her tone of voice.
This word usually has a literary sense, and is used for feelings, senses, emotions, etc.
The word "tinge" is exactly what makes a common collocation with the words related to feelings, such as anger, sadness, regret, etc.
An example of tinge by Cambridge Advanced Dictionary is as follows:
I have a tinge of regret that I didn't accept her offer.

slight
I think here ته مایه ای از خشم refers to خشم جزیی و کم, so we can say "slight anger"

tone
Here, تهمایه refers to the vague trace that is left from a strong feeling in the past. As it is revealed in someone's words, I think "tone" would best convey it in English, as for example: with a tone slightly reflecting that old anger

P.S. تهمایه, if decontectualized, normally denotes "color" or "hue" in Farsi. However, generally it is used to express a subtle existance of a quality while the main theme or quality is something else.
