Medical - Medical: Pharmaceuticals / clinical trial
Polish term or phrase: Kostka
Please can somebody help me with the translation for the word "kostka"? I am proofreading the English translation of a Polish letter to a bioethics committee regarding a trial on the treatment of post-menopausal osteoporosis. The translator has written a translator's note providing possible translations. My client does not want any notes in the translation, therefore I need to find the correct translation. Below you have the original (sorry but I don't have the Polish characters) along with the translation offered, and the note given.

Oba listy dotycza tych samych zmian w wygladzie karpuli zwiazanych obecnie z wieksza zawarta w nich liofilizowana kostka co wynika ze zmiany proceduralnej w procesie produkcji leku, ale nie wplywa na zawartosc, sklad i trwalosc leku.

The two letters concern the same changes to the appearance of the syringes, currently linked to more lyophilised kostka(1) contained in them, which arises out of a procedural change in the medicine manufacturing process, but has no impact on the content, composition or life of the medicine.

(1)The Polish word kostka means ankle or knuckle, or a die (pl. dice), or a small bone, or a lump of something. None of these meanings seems appropriate here – Translator.
English translation:bone
the word you are looking for is probably "bone" (or maybe "bone graft pieces" ???). I would also suggest replacing the word "syringes" with "carpules" - see references below.

neutral  ferrata (X): For me, it looks here like 'kostka" has the meaning of cube, lump or brick

-> you probably right (except for brick :). "pellet" might be also possible...
