restore the health Explanation: The use of "sanear" is metaphorical = healing. If action by the national government to overcome serious problems is what is intended, perhaps something like "restore the health of the economy," "bring the economy back to health" will do it. More context is needed. |

to tidy up the economy Explanation: Há 2 tipos de economia: macro (dos países) e micro (de uma empresa, pessoa). Aqui se fala da economia do país. SANEAR a economia é MELHORAR a economia (to improve, to ammeliorate), usa-se às vezes esse jargão de "sanear" a economia do país - cortar investimentos em certos setores, baixar os impostos noutros, incentivar outros - isso é "sanear", conjunto de medidas para "mudar e melhorar".
