Explanation:
Tara is the weight of the plate or container that is discounted from the weight of the food, for example, in a self-service restaurant where you buy your lunch on a per-kilo basis that is, you pay for what you eat. So the scale is calibrated to discount the weight of the plate. Actually, tare is the discount but in common parlance, it became synonymous with the actual plate.
