Here's one for horseriding enthusiasts! I can picture this - it's training a horse to walk, trot, canter, etc on the end of a long rein in a paddock - but I don't know the English term. "Leading rein" springs to mind but I may well be wrong.

Yes, also spelled "lungeing" or "longeing". I found it after much research but thought it was worth adding to the glossary, which was why I was hinting and not just closing the question. Thanks Muriel.

You're probably right, I didn't read every word because I've always thought of the rope you lead a horse around with as a "lead."

Glad to hear you were teasing...like as if I have time to read every word of the bloody site while I'm up to my ears in translations! :o)

Notes to answerer
Asker: Amy, if you'd paid a little more attention to "lunge lines" on the site you cited, you might be closer to the answer.

Asker: I'm sorry Amy - I'm being a bit of a tease. I think I know what the answer is now and I'm just waiting to see if anyone else does.
