Please note that the NYT article which I assumed is the source of this phrase is dated Sep2012, before the book's release date Oct2012.
On Sep2012 it made sense to say "the coming book" (though perhaps they should say "the upcoming book").

But if the text you are translating is subsequent to the release of the book, then it makes no sense to use "the (up)coming book". Here is a doubly misuse of the original text (wrong translation and context).

Anyway, as indeed it is a book about life/living, you can consider to correct the sentence, using the expression "livro da vida"/"book about life/living" (instead of "livro de vinda", which is a non-existent expression in Portuguese).
Or simply disregard "da vinda"/"coming" and translates just into "author of the book 'Triumphs of Experience:..."

Actually we refer to the kind of book you're talking about, Vitor, as "an UPcoming book" here in the United States.

Anyway, I noticed that the book is already written and for sale on the Internet, so it wouldn't be an "upcoming book" since it is now available to anyone.

Yes it is, but even a "book about life/living", before being released in bookstores, is a "coming book" (a book yet to be released)...
The point is that the previous translation of the original "coming book" to "livro de vinda" is an incorrect translation (quite possibly a machine translation).

Pelo texto do NYT, a tradução (ou retroversão) deste "livro de vinda" é mesmo "(the) coming book".

Pode ser que seja bem o que o Vitor Pinteus falou. Eu tinha pensado em procurar pelo texto em inglês, mas acabei vendo os outros erros de digitaçào do fragmento e vi sobre o que se tratava o livro, daí concluí que provavelmente tratava-se de erro de digitação. Mas realmente, depois dessa referência encontrada pelo Vitor, é inegável que significa o livro "vindouro", ou "que está por vir".

After reading Luiza's link, I think a much less literal translation, "book on human development" would be quite appropriate in this case.

Creio que na realidade não se trata de um erro de digitação: trata-se mas é de uma má tradução de um texto em Inglês, datado de Set2012, que refere "the coming book "Triumphs of Experience", isto é, "o livro que está a chegar" ou seja, "o livro que vai ser/está quase a ser lançado" (o livro foi lançado em Out2012).
