I have been to the Porto Editora website and while "Bureau/Desk" may be a valid translation, that website is according to Portugal's Dialect of Portuguese. So I guess it depends on which dialect you are translating. Estante in Brazilian Portuguese seems to be more of a "bookcase." There isn't a better way to translate this word.
