O uso de tanques para lavar roupa na América do Sul, neste caso no Brasil, é bem conhecido. No hemisfério norteamericano, onde a roupa é lavada em máquinas de lavar roupa, esta palavra é desconhecida, a menos que se use "washtub". Sugestões, por favor.
Explanation: I don't know any other word for this. I realize that in many cases, the "tanque" is actually a built-in sink, or set of twin sinks, outside the house rather than a separate portable tub. Washtub should do it. Washboard is the term for the ridged surface built into a tanque OR for a separate plank with such a surface (usually a metal ridged surface)
