Portuguese term or phrase: ...expandir um conjunto nos seus... termos a-cuts... The a of a-cuts is in fact the symbol, I think, alpha. What I need are some ideas as to how to render the phrase 'nos seus termos a-cuts'. Thanks

English translation:"...expanding a set into its alpha terms..." Explanation:The difficulty here is in the idiomatic construction "expand...into," which would seem to be illogical (how do you EXPAND something INTO something else?) However, that's how the English works in this case. -- Lord knows I'm no expert in set theory, but the action here would seem to be analogous to expanding an expression into its constituent primes, as one would do, for instance, in converting "8 x 9" into "2 x 2 x 2 x 3 x 3." -- Hope this helps!

I have decide on 'expand a set in its a-cut terms' (a-cut is a specific term) Yes, tech. Eng. is definitely odd at times - I found a webpage about genetic algorithms that referred to 'selecting parents for reproduction and applying mutation to the children'!!!2 KudoZ points were awarded for this answer
