Portuguese term or phrase: Ver frases abaixo
Referiu por seu lado que a Telecom Portuguesa vai procurar dinamizar todos os parceiros interessados para uma MOBILIZAÇÃO DA SOCIEDADE CIVIL E DO TECIDO EMPRESARIAL no desenvolvimento da Sociedade da Informação em Portugal.

It seems to me to be a clumsy sentence. Help translating the capitals would be much appreciated.

English translation:mobilization of the general public and the business community
Explanation:
It's true that the term "civil society" is in vogue now, but mainly in a social science context, especially in the context of restoring democracy. It means "the institutions for intermediation," the institutions that people join, the ones that make up the fabric of society. Labor unions, churches, etc. But the term in Portuguese is most often used in Brazil, at least, to refer to the general public, the public, the public at large. In this sentence you don't need the degree of formality of "civil society". Also DON'T put a "the" before Portuguese Telecom!!! The "a" does not need to be translated in this case.
If you don't like mobilization, you can use "engagement" or even "get the general public and the business community involved.." MOre natural!

Many thanks for helpful explanations. I think "involvement" as suggested by another responder might be better than mobilisation but nonetheless your translation is appreciated.

Engagement, Society, Business Comunity

Explanation:
Engagement of the whole society and the business comunity.

I also found a reference to "civil society" in a context very similar to yours. Please, look at this text, from the autodicautom:
Criação de um programa de acção que assegure a boa gestão da economia,a reforma da administração da sociedade civil e a cooperação no âmbito do sistema jurídico da República Popular da China.
Establishing an action programme towards good governance, reform of the management of civil society and cooperation related to the system of law in the People's Republic of China

I hope it hopes

engaging society at large and the corporate world

Explanation:
Sociedade civil is used by portuguese politicians when referring to society at large, meaning not the state, not the military, not the church, but simply the contribution of the common people, their associations, etc. Tecido empresarial refers to the corporate world.
Finally beware that the proper name of the corporation is Portugal Telecom, not Telecom Portuguesa.
