index numbers
Explanation:
is exactly the proper phrase in English. Lest you have any doubts, here are some sources:

-- An excerpt from a university course catalog (the Kent State Undergraduate Catalog, 2000-2002):

"Statistics: ... textbook, examples, and problems pointed toward business administration and economics. Frequency distributions, averages, index numbers ..." (first web site)

-- and one from the California State University at Los Angeles:

"Statistics for Business Administration (4) ... methods emphasizing business applications; ... analysis of variance; index numbers ..." (second web site)

-- and one from the catalog of the University of Ovieto (which is written in fluent, even elegant English), describing the compulsory course entitled "Introduction of Economic Statistics" for the degree in Business Administration and Management:

"Contents: Economic statistics: Basic concepts. Synthesis of information. Measurements. Index numbers. Economic indicators. Combined analysis of statistical variables. Correlation and regression. Regression and multiple correlation. Temporary series. Estimation with economic models and forecasting indicators..."

index numbers

Explanation:
