Portuguese term or phrase: por mera liberalidade
Hi! I'm looking for the english translation of “por mera liberalidade.” I asked for clarification and received the following: o contrário seria como “em troca de algo, com contraprestação, cedendo em algum ponto, esperando alguma vantagem contrária”. It also needs to convey the sense that the action is at their discretion and does not imply any future obligation to do so again or any benefit. Is there perhaps a latin phrase used in English, or a Law phrase in particular?

Context(o)

'A critério da empresa, e por mera liberalidade, poderá ser autorizado o pagamento em uma única parcela...'

My suggestions, which do not quite capture the sense:
'at their discretion' but this is the meaning of 'a criterio'
'as a gesture of goodwill' but this implies a future benefit from the goodwill
'without claim nor demand' does have the sense but seems clumsy
'non-binding' - does this do justice to the sense of not receiveing anything in return?

THANK YOU!!!!
