signed, signature Explanation: I'm only guessing, but in Brazilian documents and certificates the abbreviation "ass." may stand for "signature", i.e., it indicates that someone signed or should sign in the place where the the abbreviation is located in the document. Sometimes it appears as (ass.), sometimes as [ass.].
