Portuguese to English translations [PRO] Military / Defense
Portuguese term or phrase:CADERNO DE ORIENTAÇÃO ESTRATÉGICA
I'm asking for advice on wording rather than a straight translation. This is the title of a major multinational study of the future shape of the armed forces of Timor-Leste, with clear recommendations.
It's ORIENTAÇÃO that worries me. "guidance" isn't right, nor are "guidelines" or, probably, "recommendations". I'm toying with translating the whole phrase as "Strategic Blueprint".
Thank you Amy and Paula for boosting my confidence. I later found a UN document referring to this document as a strategic 'blueprint', so that's what it's going to be! Thanks for the suggestion Thais but I was really looking for something punchier and with a military flavour.
