Portuguese to English translations [PRO] Tech/Engineering
Portuguese term or phrase:avulso
Tomador de serviço é toda pessoa jurídica de direito público ou privado que, não sendo operador portuário ou empregador, requisite trabalhador portuário avulso.
Explanation: That last translation from 'workdog' was OBVIOUSLY done by someone who is not a native speaker. I'm sure you're already aware of this, but please take what they have written with a grain of salt.
Explanation: "Trabalhador avulso" is a temporary worker, employed without contract or with a temporary (time limited) contract. In Portugal he could also be called "Trabalhador a recibo verde", which refers to a kind of precarious type of work where the worker gives the employer a "green receipt" for his wages.
Source: My own experience (I lived and worked in Brazil and do it now in Portugal).
