În comuna Alma, categoria predominantă de soluri o constituie solurile podzolice argiloiluviale pseudogleizate.
În partea de vest sunt soluri brune podzolite, iar în lunca Târnavei Mari soluri aluviale.
Solurile brune podzolite au o mare răspândire în zona cu păduri de foioase şi mixte, fiind întâlnite în regiunile deluroase.
