Although, believe it or not , when my father dies last November in Russia because car drove him over when he was crossing the street, and that car went on a wrong lane/side of the traffic, whenever I was talking with colleagues and friends in US - -all as one was saying - The Coroner's Office.
Bottom line - do not forget " The " and then .....Medical Examiner's Office - more widely used way of saying

Just Google it, and then see for whom u are translating- for US then that is definitely not a Bureau....

Both - Coroner and Medical examiner are investigating cases of sudden or unexpected and suspicious death, but Coroner could be also not a Doctor of Medicine , whole medical examiner must be MD. Forensic science is much much broader and the do criminal analyzes using techniques and tools to determine cause of death or investigate other related to the criminal case issues , while medical examiner and /or coroner are doing autopsy . In Russian way only those 2 are equal to суд-медэксперту who investigates cause of death. In my case death was caused by heart attack which is related to the car accident but F - indirectly...... meaning it could happened or it might not...... Conclusion by the Coroner - death is not directly related to the car accident.....Therefore, the killer was never charged with involuntarily man-slaughter and I have no right to defend my deceased Father..... Do you know How I feel now?????

The link I gave got truncated and doesn't work. Sorry. It's Australian anyway.

I did some more research. My suggested translation seems to be commonly used in English-language documents about such offices in non-English speaking countries, and it is what such offices are called in Australia. "Office of the Medical Examiner/Medical Examiner's Office" (or some variation thereof) is the norm in the U.S. I couldn't find anything on British usage. Maybe one of our UK colleagues would enlighten us . . .?
