Swelling of the palatine tonsils


Explanation:
Even in a medical text, I would avoid unnecessary jargon. "Hypertrophy" can usually be replaced with a simpler English word.

If hypertrophy must be used, I prefer the less constipated word-order "hypertrophy of the palatine tonsils."
