ID, ID card; credentials; certificate Explanation: "ID," "ID card," "identification card" - these are all perfectly fine. However, if the document in question attests not only to the bearer's identity but also to his/her affiliation with a certain organization, possession of a degree, qualifications, etc., then "credentials' or "cerfificate" might be more appropriate, depending on the specific context. |

Identity card; certificate; license Explanation: The Russian noun удостоверение may take two forms only: 1. Удостоверение (verbal noun) is translated as attestaion, certification (the act of attesting, authenticating or certifying, especially certifying the truth of some statement, event or origin) and 2. Удостоверение (a document) is translated as a certificate (card, license) of the truth of such statement, event or origin, e.g.: - certificate of competency (удостоверение квалификации); - certificate of identity, identity card, identification card, ID card, I.D. card (удостоверение личности); - service certificate, certificate of employmnet (служебное удостоверение); - driver's license (водительское удостоверение); - certificate of fitness (удостоверение о пригодности к эксплуатации); - registration certificate (свидетельство о регистрации). In phrases: - this is to certify ... (настоящим удостоверяется); - in witness thereof ... (в удостоверение чего-либо). Note. In other (most) cases certificate is translated as свидетельство: - birth certificate (свидетельство о рождении); - certificate of marriage, divorce (свидетельство о браке, разводе), etc. Thank you and have a nice day.
