snagging in the starboard sheet

What is the issue? Mid-ship cleats are excellent for securing a vessel when alongside. But once under sail, they tend to snag the jib sheet causing a tack failure.

Preventing jib sheets snagging on mid-ship cleats

As you make the tack, the jib will back (be blown backward). At this moment release the jib sheet, letting it out quickly but avoiding snagging the line on anything in the cockpit.

sufficient pressure in the sail or the sheet snagging can cause the clew to be pulled
