Since 'charge' and 'load' are virtual synonyms, I have to give this to Jack D rather than Oleg. Jack S, I also have фильтрующая среда. Both clearly refer to the same substance, in the first case seen as the load or charge in the filter, in the second as the medium through which the liquid (here waste water) is filtered.
