Je kunt uiteraard ook 'geboortedag' gebruiken, maar wellicht is 'oprichting, stichting' iets beter, omdat dergelijke dingen uiteraard niet in een dag tot stand komen. Enige discussie mogelijk omtrent juistheid van de data: Robert Schuman (1886-1963), geboren in Luxemburg, bekleedde verschillende hoge functies tijdens de (Franse) Vierde Republiek. Zo was hij Minister van Financiën, premier van Frankrijk en nadien Minister van Buitenlandse Zaken. In 1950 stelde hij de oprichting voor van een (Westeuropese) gemeenschap voor kolen en staal. Dit 'Schuman-plan' werd verder uitgewerkt door Jean Monnet en leidde in 1952 tot de effectieve vorming/oprichting van de EGKS (Europese Gemeenschap voor Komen en Staal), de voorloper van de Europese Unie.
