Я решил, что, так как автор ссылается на конкретный номер журнала и даже приводит фамилию автора слов, то мне надо изобразить это в виде цитаты. А то получается, что можно присвоить свои слова любому человеку и любому печатному изданию. Кстати, в других местах статьи автор тоже использует чужие высказывания, но ставит кавычки (хотя в кавычках тоже перевод вольный).

Спасибо всем оргомное за интиресные варианты. Оле особая благодарность за найденный оригинал (мне это не удалось)

Оле и Алику: ребята, первоисточник-то найден и это здорово, но я не вижу доказательств того, что Дима имеет дело с переведенной цитатой, которую он имеет право и основание спасать при обратном переводе. Перед ним совершенно конкретная фраза, не взятая в кавычки, т.е. его автор вольно излагает общую идею первоисточника своими словами, уж как умеет, это не забота переводчика:). Оля, ты же сама говоришь, что смешаны мысли из двух предложений оригинала. Дима-то переводит нового автора, его конкретные слова. Он же не может просто убрать его с дороги и блеснуть знанием первоисточника.

Или как?
