Я все-таки хочу подчеркнуть, что МЕТАЛЛИЧЕСКИЕ детали как-то неприлично называть химически пассивными или инертными. И наоборот, пластиковые нельзя назвать пассивированными. Думаю, в английском техническом - то же самое.
