Russian to English translations [PRO] Law/Patents - Law: Contract(s) / engineering/refining/safety
Russian term or phrase:специальное молоко
As in: "[сторона] обеспечивает специалистов спец. одеждой, спец. мылом, спец. обувью, спец. молоком и средствами индивидуальной защиты"
More or less typical contract clause to provide safety gear, but I've never before seen this term. Is the literal translation correct, or does "молоко" have a industry specific definition with regard to safety and safety equipment or supplies?
I would not call it "special" in the translation. It is free milk given out to those working in unhealthy working environment. There is nothing special about the milk - it is just milk without any additives
Thanks for the reminder -- it it 'special milk' in the translation. Personally, I'd prefer beer, but I'm sure that's frowned upon. I really appreciate the comments. I thought that maybe the term referred to some special cream or ointment used to treat skin irritations. Sometimes the obvious/literal answer really is the right one.
I'm sure there's most likely nothing special about the milk, and I believe it is most likely free and giving it out complies with the HSE regulations, but if it is специальное молоко, I believe it should still be "special milk" in the translation, no?
Explanation: As I remember, from my experience, it is simly milk. according to Russian occupational safety, milk is given to people, who perform harmful work (such as soldering, welding, etc...). It is considered that milk improves human health.
