Explanation: Polymerase Chain Reaction is a widely used method in molecular biology. As an application it is used in medical diagnostic and forensic procedures. Directly, it has nothing to do with sexually transmitted diseases(STD). But it can be used to determine the presence or the strain of pathogen in specimens.
