Thanks to everyone for their help. The specific word I was having trouble with was перевиваемая. I have been translating it as "interwoven," which is what I've seen in several source-supplied English abstracts in Russian journals in the past few years. But a Russian book I am translating has English captions, and they translate перевиваемая as continuous (continuous cell line). I was hopling someone could supply me with a source. I eventually called the client, who said that Sukhov's 1995 English-Russian Dictionary of Immunology and Immunogenetics translates перевиваемая клетоцчная линия аs "finite cell line" and that I should translate перевиваемая линия амниона человека as finite human amnion line.

Michelen, in any case "interweaving" is a WRONG word!

Explanation:
If you need a source for "finite":

FINITE CELL LINE : A culture which is capable of a limited number of cell generations in vitro before dying out. ...

Don't use "interweaving", please! It has nothing to do with cell cultures!!!!!!
