Explanation:
This has always been a major issue with all the major American journal publishers such as the American Chemical Society and Plenum Press...the consensus is that, if for no other reason, it saves a hell of a lot of type in printing..plus...any study (investigation) is ipso facto "scientific"..plus "study" is preferred over "investigation" for the same reason
