Russian term or phrase: солнце болит и держится косо
It's something a man mutters to himself after returning to his village devastated by war.
Anybody recognize this as a quote?

С холма была видна огромная пустота.
"…И солнце болит и держится косо, как вывихнутое плечо…"
Я произнёс это вслух.

English translation:Even the sun aches and droops askance
Explanation:
Don't believe this is a quote, just a painfully poetic statement. You can go with 'hangs' or 'hovers,' but 'droops' may work better with the dislocated shoulder image.

agree  Tevah_Trans: I think "even" is not in the source, but I like!

agree  James McVay: A suggestion: put it in the present progressive: "Even the sun is aching . . ."

-> Thank you, James. I like that as well.

agree  Oxana Snyder: Or also, even the sun is in pain...// I do agree with you, however I just decided to add a variant I had in my head :)
