Russian to English translations [PRO] Art/Literary - Poetry & Literature / slang expression
Russian term or phrase:Говноед портовый
A rude slang expression in a novel. The men are having a conversation and one of them says Говноед портовый to the other guy as an insult.
I didn't think there was a double meaning. I was just asking for some creative suggestions about how to translate these words. As to портовый, yes, it is because the guy had previously worked in the port before becoming president.
so you're pretty much free to choose between the literal "shit-eater" and any of the suitable English invectives of moderate insulting power
as for портовый, it must be rooted in the novel's macrocontext
