sulfide(-) reducing clostridia

Explanation:
To explain why these microbes work as "sulfutreducing"
First, recall that under anaerobic conditions in which bacteria persist in the
oxidation of biological material, hydrogen sulfide is produced.

Second, _Mycoplasma_, which appear to be different from other bacteria - -in the absence of a cell wall, the very small cellular and genomic sizes, and the presence of sterols in their cell membranes--actually are related to the gram-positive _clostridia on_ the basis of their nucleic acid sequences.

Thus in explaining your term you should NOT use CAIPTALS for that plural and if SEPARATE species are absent.

sulphite-reducing Clostridia

Explanation:
Please compare: sulphate -сернистокислая соль, сульфат
sulphide - сернистый металл, сульфид
sulphite - сернистокислый металл, сульфит
So reduction reactions of these compounds would release different substances in each case depending on the letter you choose :-)

sulfite-reducing clostridia

Explanation:
Be very cautious with your spelling. I believe it is "sulfite-reducing clostridia" (with F and T, not PH and D).
