Is there a direct translation for ‘huba’ in English? Or, at least a common explanation to give when translating it? I understand that the original term is actually German, but a number of the old Slovenian documents I deal with regarding the area close to Austria contain it. If a direct German to English translation would correctly translate the word in the way it was used in Slovenia, I would be happy with that answer.
Huba - (nem. Hube, Hübe ali Hufe) v srednjem veku je bil to skupni pojem za zaokroženo posest kmečke družine nad polji in pravicami uporabe vaške gmajne, ki je bila potrebna za življenje kmečke družine.

I would just leave it in German and add 'thw German'. We've also adopted this term in Slovenian, so I think it's OK to do so in EN as well.
