| jalepe駉 jalape駉 Explanation: It's spelled jalape駉, though you may find it under jalapeno on the web because of shortcomings with local PC keyboards. I assume they keep the same name in Chinese, since they are being imported from Mexico and the U.S. Capsicum annum Jalape駉 and Cayenne varieties are hot forms of the bell pepper species (Capsicum annum). The Cayenne variety dates from Pre-Columbian times and is named after the Cayenne River in French Guiana.
