Spanish term

protege el espacio de entrada en planta baja

Spanish to English Tech/Engineering Architecture
En la planta superior, destinada a uso de noche, se sitúan el dormitorio principal con baño completo, un dormitorio doble, otro baño y un dormitorio sencillo, que actúa de pieza puente y ***protege el espacio de entrada en planta baja.***

Maybe it's just that it's late, but for the life of me, I can't figure out what they mean, since this room is on the planta superior and not the planta baja. Any help appreciated!

protects the access area on the ground floor

Architects like "access"

The way I imagine it, the bedroom is a sort of bridge, possibly connecting another "block" of the house, and providing a roof for the access area.

2 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Access is acceso (and I had plenty of those in the doc. without adding another one!), but the idea of "providing a roof" was the explanation I needed, and you were the first to suggest it (the interpretation was confirmed by the client). I ended up using "sheltering the entrance area" rather than protecting. Thanks to everyone who participated."

or \"covers\" as in makes a roof over the entryway?

neutral Patrick Regini : dulce!! Que lindo que algunos quieran ayudar y no anden copitiendo como otros con demasiado "attitude". Overlook = Estar por encima mirando. Esto era el caso de una "habitacion puente" :o)

thus covering the front entrance space below

Translated according to it's place in the sentence ( didn't mean to do that! :) ) I would suggest this phrasing for you. What it says is that the room functions as a bridge covering the front porch.

Ooops! forgot to delete my remark in parenthesis! -I put that because before I had the word \"phrase\" instead of \"sentence\"; and it rimed.
Peer comment(s):

neutral Sol : I would agree, but I already said "covers" :) By the way, thanks for your nice NEUTRAL comment.
