opposite trade

Hi Keith,
Just a comment on the stop loss answer. One does not necessarily place an order in the market to stop a loss, one may simply place it to offset a trade. In futures markets, you need to place the trade opposite to the one you originally entered the market with (whether you want to take profits or stop a loss)that is, if you originally buy, you offset with a selling trade. I'd use "opposite trade" when it is not clear the order is dealing with stopping losses. Also, when you know exactly how much you're willing to lose in a trade, when you enter the market, you simultaneously place the exiting trade, and that would be a stop-loss order.
Good luck,
