Spanish term or phrase: Titular de la notaría número 5
Hey everyone,

I know this term has been discussed before, but I'm not sure it's really ever been properly resolved.

Researching the term in the Mexican law governing notaries, I see that "notarías" can be created/vacated/filled, etc. For example:

This convinces me that's it's a position and not a physical office, nor is it the notary themselves, as many answers state.

Has anyway managed to figure this one out?

Cheers,
Nick

Holder of notarial office Number 5
Explanation:
I believe the asker is right - it's a specific position rather than a specific person

See:

A Mexican notary is usually appointed by the Governor. The number of notaries are limited as they are appointed based on the population of the city and their jurisdiction is restricted to the state they are based on. Notary certifications are usually handed down from generation to generation and are very closely guarded.
