rentier Explanation: there is no word in English..it comes from the French... meaning to live off income and not do anything productive..for example, own a bunch of properties or stocks and live off the income..that is the meaning I don't know what they mean by Argentina culture being rentier..maybe they mean that it is living off what is has already produced and not producing anything new.... or that the benefits of culture only accrue to the rich....who knows..,you didn't give enough context |
