I am having trouble coming up with a nice sentence in English. Can you help me out with this one?

es verdad que llevamos ya cerca de 2 años en donde este tipo de inversión se ha estancado y en algunos casos concretos por realizar mal dicha inversión o por haberse contagiado de una “excesiva” alegría, se han producido y se están produciendo casos de desinversión inmobiliaria en algunos casos en donde se han tenido que vender propiedades por debajo del precio de compra.

In some specific instances, due to bad investments or having been overwhelmed with excitement, we have had to and are having to disinvestment in real-estate. disagree  jack_speak: I think the word 'disinvestment' is pretentious and not used except in cases that are highly academic or in cases discussing international finance. It is best to use standard phraseology: "sale of real-estate." No offense, Mike, but please remember

This is one option.

I agree with Jack_speak that disinvestment is only usually used in formal economic documents and would sound a bit pretentious in this context. I would go with "people are divesting themselves of" or even just "people are getting rid of (or selling) their real estate investments".

Though suggestions that include the word "disinvestment" might be acceptable (as Routledge contends), questions of frequency of use might be taken into consideration. To the extent that "divestiture" can be used to convey the same action as that of "desinversión" (i.e., the removal of invested capital from a given segment of the economy) this might be a good option.
