grain alcohol (aka ethyl alcohol or ethanol)

For your context, I think grain alcohol is most appropriate. It's synonymous with ethyl alcohol or ethanol.

Here's a definition of "grain alcohol":
Can be produced chemically from ethylene or biologically from the fermentation of various sugars from carbohydrates **found in agricultural crops and cellulosic residues from crops or wood**. Used in the United States as a gasoline octane enhancer and oxygenate, it increases octane 2.5 to 3.0 numbers at 10% concentration. Ethanol also can be used in higher concentration in alternative-fuel vehicles optimized for its use.

Ethyl alcohol, also known as ethanol or grain alcohol, is a flammable, colorless chemical compound, one of the alcohols that is most often found in alcoholic beverages. In common parlance, it is often referred to simply as alcohol. Its chemical formula is C2H5OH.

It's also known as "wood alcohol" or just plain "alcohol." In has lot of other synonyms in the vernacular. In college (several decades ago) we used to sing a song that included the line: "we sober up on wood alcohol..."

Commission proposes "lightweight" common market organisation for agricultural alcohol

The European Commission yesterday adopted a proposal to establish a common organisation of the market in ethyl alcohol of agricultural origin. A proposal for a Council Regulation sets out a framework of common rules, in the form of a "lightweight" common market organisation for agricultural alcohol. Essentially, it introduces the possibility of a trade monitoring system by means of licences for agricultural alcohol and brings such alcohol under the responsibility of the Management Committee for Wine. The aims are mainly to increase market information, monitor trade flows and establish a forum for discussion and decision making. "These measures will provide a simple and transparent framework to enable the specific issues of the agricultural alcohol sector to be addressed and will benefit this whole sector", Agriculture Commissioner Franz Fischler said.

6.1 Ethyl alcohol can be produced either industrially, or from a range of agricultural products (such as cereals, sugar beet, molasses, potatoes, fruit and wine), for which it provides an important outlet.

6.3 The Commission adds that further pressures on the sector are likely to arise as a result of the large quantities of agricultural alcohol produced by some of the applicant countries, the likelihood of further reductions in tariffs being agreed in the next WTO negotiations, and competition from alcohol produced with the benefit of tax incentives under large scale bio-fuel programmes.
