South American fresh cheese Explanation: I had always thought that 'fresh' chesee was a simplistic and innacurate translation, but research suggests that the term is correct in English! In terms of a menu, putting things like 'Colombian/Venezuelan' fresh cheese might be erroneous. And 'Caribbean South American fresh cheese' would be more of the same, I would go for my suggestion. But then I would, wouldn't I? |

cottage cheese Explanation: In Spain it's called "queso fresco". There are variations of it in other countries. LidL in Spain do a nice one. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 15 hrs (2018-07-28 08:39:15 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- This is the one I buy: https://imgur.com/gallery/MC0Zs -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 15 hrs (2018-07-28 08:42:33 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Similar to requesón: https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Requesón (which we call "ricotta" cheese) https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cottage_(queso) https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=queso+fresco+Lidl&rlz=1C1XYJR_enGB776GB776&tbm=isch&source=iu&ictx=1&fir=9Z2lkd94xSJLVM%253A%252C-Oeu9qLfC |

Reference Reference information: In Spain, you can find "Queso latino" in the supermarkets (at least in DIA). It comes in sealed plastic bags as it contains a lot of water and quite soft. I understand that in other locations it's name might be "queso fresco". https://cooking.stackexchange.com/questions/79043/queso-fres... -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 13 hrs (2018-07-28 06:51:51 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Doesn't look much like cottage cheese to me. Maybe Latin fresh cheese. |
