basically it just means "raises" but "bump" is also used in the jargon

e.g. when someone bets you can "see" the bet (i.e. put in the same amount) or "raise/bump" the bet by putting in a larger amount ... then there is the opportunity for the other player(s) to "re-raise" by "upping" the bet even further ...
